John MacArthur's - The Challenge of Science

For all those that know that life was not by chance, as I explained in the article "The Chance of Life?", where you can deduce with simple scientific mathematical terms the odds of that ever happening, then the conclusion is that we were made by intelligence. Because intelligence is needed to be created as we are encoded with highly sophisticated programming.

Then of course the question rises, who made us? Very much people like to put God out of any possibility because everyone does not want to be judged about their wrong doings, they especially reject the God of the Bible. And from those people you hear that we were created by aliens. Well, if that is the case, then who made the aliens, and how did the universe come into existence? As also said in other articles is not fall for the deception that anything can come out of nothing. Because if there was a time when there was nothing, there still would be nothing. But if there was ever a time that there was something, there was always something pointing to eternity. So in our case we are dealing with eternal intelligence.

There is no other way to get to any other conclusion - or you would get very unscientific things like something comes out of nothing, and the real reason this is told to you lies actually not in science but in the heart. Most of the the people that come with these Ideas were sexual perverted people as they where well known for. Man wants to be autonomous and does not want to be judged by what is given in the heart to be good or bad. The fallen man does not want God of the Bible to exists. Let alone who He is and what He stands for.

Unfortunately for those people, for already laid out the conclusion that there is a God, you might wonder, who is He then. All those religions make it very difficult to choose. And do I have to read all of those books to make a choice?

I say no, because a lot of research has already been done. And that is why I would like to refer to a video of pastor John MacArthur, who did a sermon at Ligoneer Ministries about several religions. The point you have to take here is that God is not manifesting Himself in the world. And that is evident as otherwise nobody would have a problem the fact that God is present. So if He reveals Himself in documentation, and He would be made known in religion or the Gospel. (I make distinction in that).

The point is, if God reveals Himself, then everything that He has written about Himself must be True. Otherwise the documentation would have no value for credibility. So everything must be True. So if you believe God exists, and understands that the Universe was made from another place than dimensions you live in, then miracles can be easily excepted. For us they look like miracles, for God they are not. And the Bible records miracles. Archeological and geological research already affirm some of the miracles recorded in the Bible. We can affirm the great flood all over the world. Sea bed fossils are found everywhere and on high mountains. It is proven that fossils can be made in one day! Given enough pressure. It is proven that under the Earth's crust there is more water then in the Oceans. Hence that God said, I will open the water fountains from the deep - an announcement of the flood. And this extra water would sink every mountain on Earth beneath it. Now that pressure kills a lot of animals and creates a lot of fossils. That why you see them in the most unexpected places. And the attack is also very sudden. Which is also affirmed.

God made Himself known in the beginning with Adam and Eve. From those generations forward, after the fall, after Adam and Eve sinned. As God Himself is Holy, Holy, Holy - the whole creation is about the Glory of the Word, the One who created us with the Word, Jesus Christ. And for fallen man the battle of good and evil has begun since the sin of Adam and Eve.

If I am right there is an omission in the video, and that is any reference to Islam. A "new" religion that emerged some Islam denies (about 400-500 years later) after Christ's ministry that Jesus Christ was not crucified. And their religion started about 4500 years after the Scripture (the Bible's old testament).

Well the first affirmations of Jesus's crucifixion was in the Bible itself, in the New Testament (the new Covenant) in:

  • Bible:
    • The Four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John)
    • Paul’s Letters (1 Corinthians, Galatians, Romans):
  • Non-Christian Historical Sources:
    • Cornelius Tacitus (c. 116 AD): A Roman historian and senator who wrote in his Annals (15.44) that "Christus, from whom the name [Christians] had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus".
    • Flavius Josephus (c. 93–94 AD): A Jewish historian who, in his Antiquities of the Jews (Book 18), mentions that Pilate condemned Jesus to the cross. Scholars generally accept an "authentic nucleus" of this passage, even if later additions were made.
    • Lucian of Samosata (2nd Century AD): A Greek satirist who mocked Christians for worshipping a man who was crucified.
    • Mara Bar-Serapion (late 1st to 3rd century AD): A letter to his son that refers to the execution of "the wise king" of the Jews.
    • The Babylonian Talmud (5th Century, with 2nd-century traditions): A passage in Sanhedrin 43a mentions that "Yeshu" (Jesus) was hanged/executed on the eve of Passover.
  • Other Early Christian Sources:
    • Clement of Rome (c. 70-96 AD): Mentions the death and resurrection of Jesus in his first letter to the Corinthians.
    • Ignatius of Antioch (c. 110 AD): Wrote that Jesus was truly crucified under Pontius Pilate and Herod the tetrarch.
    • Polycarp (c. 110-140 AD): Mentions Jesus' death in his letter to the Philippians.
    • Justin Martyr (c. 155-157 AD): In his First Apology, he argues that Jesus was crucified and died.
