Why does one need to be saved?

The knowledge of why you need to be saved has to with who God is. Only by knowing God you understand why you need to be saved. I am going to make this as simple as I can.

God is Holy, Holy, Holy. I say "Holy" three times because of utter respect for God. His angels also sing this three times. But, you may only have a glimpse of want is meant by Holy. In the literal sense Holy means set - aside, or different. And the impact of the Holiness of God is in His Character. God is perfect, good and righteous. We are not like God. That sets God aside from us. But to make no mistake, we were created in His image, knowing good and evil (when the fall came). Thus we know good and evil, but God is only good, we are in the unsaved state already condemned because we are bad.

Another way to know God is by His laws. One particular one that condems all of humanity is: "the wages of sin is death". And death means hell for eternity, being set aside from the presence of God. So, the question is, how can we live with God, if we all deserve death? All have sinned young and old. So God actually says, if you want to be in my presence, read heaven, you'll have to be holy. And that is where the Gospel comes into view.

Jesus Christ showed the world who the God the Father is by always showing the character of God and the works He was set out to do, obeying the Father. Jesus, the Son of Man, the only begotten Son of God the Father, lived sinless among men and conquered death because being innocent He received full punishment of the Wrath of God on the cross for our sins. Someone had to pay for our sins, who was perfect like God.

Allthough the Jews themselves did not know the redemption plan of God for the whole world for Jews and gentiles; Jesus was made to suffer, as the Lam for the slaughter, for the sins of the world. This is how Holy God is, as he distances Himself and puts Jesus Christ in the middle - as He is the mediator for the saved.

Therefore, any sinner who puts his Faith in Jesus Christ, and wants to put sin aside, will be saved.

God does not warn you of the devil, He warns you from HIMSELF. Because He will be your judge.

Jesus already conquered death, and defeated satan. So for a true Christian, Satan is no more a threat to salvation once you are saved. Because the Father keeps those who are saved. A true Christian is a saved Christian. Unfortunately there are many many Christians who believe in Jesus Christ but are not saved. To those Jesus will say: "I never knew you".

So what does being saved mean, how does that work? Well John 3:16 says:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

The word believe here is not just believe in itself, but to follow Jesus Christ, and know the Father. Because again, a lot of so called Christians believe but their hearts are far from holiness. Meaning they don't follow. They still love sin and don't actually want to know God or only superficially. Faith is not only by reasoning, but also of the heart.

How do you know God?

Probably you want to know about God before you commit to God, then you need to read the Bible. And listen to pastors, those who search for the Truth of the Bible. And have fellowship with other (saved) Christians who also in search for Truth. But ultimately, being saved means that you have a relationship with the Lord. When you pray, when you study the Word of God. When you walk with God in everyday life. That is when Christ will say, "I know you. You are one of Mine".

Conclusion

The answer to why you need to be saved is because you are already a condemned sinner and you will face judgement. That Judgement will condemn you to hell, which answers what. And God will be your judge, which answers whom.

May you find your way to Christ Jesus, only through Jesus Christ you may receive grace and receive everlasting life in heaven, Amen.
